Argentina's Arsat 1 ready to launch

Argentina's satellite Arsat 1 is ready to be moved to the Guyana space centre, from which it will be launched.
According to Invap, the satellite will be heading into space in September, although the launch was initially scheduled for July.

The satellite aims to improve Argentina's telecommunications from a national and public perspective and the government has invested around $300 million in the project, according to national news agency Telam.
The national satellite agency Arsat is responsible for the project, although Invap – also a public company – designed and build the satellite.
The satellite will be launched on board an Arianne rocket probably around 12 September, although Arsat and Arianne are still studying the options.
While the details of the launch are being discussed, Arsat 2 is also almost finished. The second generation satellite will be entering the final test phase in a few weeks, with the launch date estimated for June 2015.
Both satellites will be placed in an orbit of 36,000km and will offer telecom services, with a focus on bringing pay-TV, DTT and Internet to Argentina's most remote areas.
In addition to Arsat 1 and 2, one more satellite is included in the government's plans, although no date has yet been unveiled for its completion. The project also aims to defend the country's geostationary positions and develop its space industry.
