MIB conducts license review meetings with teleport to establish eligibility

The Information & Broadcasting Ministry (MIB) has decided to conduct a review meeting with all the 65 permitted teleport operators, wherein the operators are required to furnish their details to establish continued eligibility criteria.
Apart from the list of TV channels being uplinked from their teleport, the operators are also asked to furnish details relating to their balance sheet for the year 2012–13, net worth, shareholding pattern and foreign holding in the company.
The MIB has also asked for recent pictures of their facility or teleport as well as photographs of present directors of the board and key executives in a prescribed format.
The ministry has called meetings in three different batches of different teleport operators to get their status. Mentioning the names of 65 operators, it has stated that if details are not provided in the proforma drawn up by the ministry, appropriate ex parte action will be taken in accordance with extant guidelines.
