The deal between multi system operator Fastway Transmission and the broadcaster ZEEL is expiring on March 31, but both players have not taken any step to renew the agreement. While MSO Fastway is open to a reference interconnect offer (RIO) deal, both players are in favour of entering into a negotiated fixed fee as has been the case so far.
As a matter of fact, ZEEL channels are available of RIO on DEN Networks since 1 February after the parties failed to arrive at a consensus. The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) had also asked DEN to pay Rs 23.5 crore to ZEEL.
According to Fastway Transmission CEO Peeush Mahajan, “We are negotiating with ZEEL to enter into a fixed fee deal as our existing deal will end on 31 March. However, we will put ZEEL distributed channels on RIO if the deal doesn’t materialise.”
Mahajan expects the deal to get renewed soon.
