I&B Ministry prevails over IFF; bans film ‘S Durga’ from getting screened at festival

Controversial South Indian film “Sexy, oops S Durga” which has put TV journalist Rohit Sardana’s life in danger, has been blocked by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, as the Ministry prevailed over the International Film Festival of India (IFF).

Now S Durga cannot be screened at the International Film Festival of India. Though, the movie was approved by the Indian Panorama jury at IFFI but I&B Ministry banned it from getting screened. As a matter of fact, IFFI rules do not mandate a CBFC clearance for a film to be screened and yet the I&B took offence to the name Sexy Durga, which it believed hurt religious sensitivities, and asked it to get a CBFC certificate.
