31% rise in Kids TV viewership in the last five years: BARC study

According to a BARC India study, the kids’ TV viewership has gone up 31% in the last five years in the country and touched 31.6 billion impressions in 2017 compared to 24 billion impressions in 2012, thanks to the amazing content being offered by various broadcasters.


The study ‘Evolution of Kids Content on TV’ says that kids’ genre has the fourth largest viewership share in the TV universe at 6%. The genre has 19 channels across six languages.

According to the presentation, delivered by BARC India chief business officer Romil Ramgarhia at the OTTv Summit in Mumbai, “Kids audience base in the last 5 years has grown 29% while their viewership has grown 31%. Indian home grown kids content is gaining importance on TV.”
