Cable operators, MSOs asked to provide computerised bills to consumers

Local cable operators and multi-system operators have been asked to look into the issue of computerised bill being not provided to consumers in certain areas of Phase I cities, government said today. 
“It has been brought to the notice of this ministry that in some areas of Phase I cities, computerised bills are not being provided to consumers,” I&B minister Manish Tewari said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha. 

“TRAI has issued necessary directions to the multi-system operators (MSOs) and local cable operators (LCOs) in this regard,” he said. 
In response to another question, Tewari said a total of 1.20 crore of set top boxes have been installed as on January 2013. 
To an another question, the minister said 137 complaints have received by government or inter—ministerial committee, set up to examine the cases of violation of the Programme and Advertising Codes, in last three years.
