Mizoram consumers concern over hike in Cable TV fee

Mizoram Consumers Union here expressed concern over the hike in cable tariffs implemented by Mizoram Cable TV Operators & Distributors Association (MICODA).
Cable monthly fee has been up from Rs.200 to Rs.250.

MCU maintained that the hike in the Cable TV monthly fee does not commensurate with the rate determined by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India TRAI.
In the mean time, MICODA President, PC Lalduhthlanga said, the rate fixed by TRAI is that of the rate to be used by Cable TV Operators for providing Free to Air channel only.
In Mizoram, the condition is such that as per the demand of the subscribers, all the Channels that are given out are that of pay channels. Given that the pay channels which are liked by the Mizos are of high rate, such popular channels even if viewed from DTH would also cost around Rs.300, Lalduhthlanga explained.
