Kannada news channel Public TV, part of Writmen Media, is celebrating completion of its first year of operations on 12 February 2013. The company is now planning to expand its channel offerings with a Kannada music channel.
Speaking on completion H R Ranganath, CMD, Public TV said, “The one-year journey has been exemplary and has made us feel proud of being a highly credible and authentic news channel of Karnataka. The phenomenal success can be attributed to quality and trustworthiness of the channel. A year ago, we had implemented a novel model and the same has been accepted by professionals.”
Arun Kumar, CEO, Public TV added, “We have achieved success due to the unique editorial positioning, interactive and independent news coverage, complementing programmes and complete team effort. Public TV has been an establised market leader and has been consistent in its GRP growth.”
Meanwhile, Public TV has lined up a slew of programmes, where celebrities from across Karnataka will read all major news bulletins (‘News CafĂ©’, ‘Special News Bulletin’, ‘Bangalore Today’) for a day. This will be clubbed with a five-minute ‘Blooper’ for selected bulletins and the top impact stories of the past year.
With digitisation underway in the country, the channel is planning to get on to the DTH platforms. On the marketing front, Public TV will work towards capturing the moods of the advertisers through a series of promotional activities on outdoor and digital mediums.
C K Harish Kumar, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Public TV said, “We will work with enhanced confidence and conviction. Our responsibilities towards the people of Karnataka will be multi-fold and we will strive towards becoming a household name in the state.”
