Vanitha TV wins UNICEF awards

Vanitha TV won in three categories of the 11 UNICEF Awards for Children-Related programmes, for best discussion and documentary. The awards were given to the channels at a ceremony held by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Centre for Media Studies (CMS) here on 16 December.
 The other awards were for other categories like inspiring story, effective communication, gender-sensitive campaign, discussions etc, which were bagged by NTV, ETV Andhra Pradesh, TNews, TV9, Gemini News, iNews, V6 News and 10TV. 
The jury, which analysed 7,600 hours and 2,578 programmes of content from 19 news and non-news channels during prime-time over 100 days, presented 11 awards to various channels. 
Ruth Leana, Chief Field UNICEF Office for Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, said that the quantity of reporting among the Telugu media has increased. P. V. R. K. Prasad, former IAS officer, was the jury’s chairperson, and other members were present at the event.
