ALi Corp. Announced its M3911 Networking Media Processor for IPTV/OTT

ALi Corporation, a leading provider of set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, announced on 9 May 2012, that its M3911 Networking Media Processor has been selected by VideoWeb, a German OTT (Over-the-top) service provider, to be integrated into the newly launched B12 product line of OTT set top boxes for the international market.
B12 is especially designed for OTT providers and Internet companies. It features HTML4/5/CE-HTML browser, QT-client, HbbTV, DLNA and an advanced networking media processor. In addition, B12 supports the latest Hollywood approved streaming technologies (e.g. Smooth Streaming, HLS, BitBand, and MPEG DASH) and DRM solutions such as DRM10, PlayReady, HLS-DRM and Secure Media.

ALi’s M3911 Networking Media Processor is the first in the industry to feature fast sleep and resume function. Compared to competitors’ existing solutions, M3911 saves nearly 50% of the consumed power with additional features such as enabling end devices to have a shorter boot time, and supporting auto-switch off for those not-in-use visual outputs. In addition, built on the open-source Linux Kernel based platform, M3911 Networking Media Processor enables 3rd party partners to more easily and rapidly develop and deploy new applications and save tremendous time during development.
“Aiming to provide compelling cost advantage, fast and seamless deployment, as well as efficient energy management for integration into OTT devices, ALi is glad to work with VideoWeb,” said Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s International Business Unit. “VideoWeb’s B12 platform offers short project cycles, short production lead times and includes life-cycle management, ongoing software maintenance and service updates. By adopting VideoWeb’s B12 platform with ALi’s M3911 NMP, OTT companies can easily reduce project complexity and no longer need to worry about technology.”
