The district administration has expressed its inability to stop MSOs violating TRAI Tariff Regulations in Nashik, Maharashtra.
The district administration has turned a blind eye and has not taken adequate measures to inform consumers about their rights in the new scenario of digitized cable transmission. Confirming the news, District collector Saurabh Rao admits that the open plundering is going on but he can't do anything because it is a transition period.
During the customary press conference after a district planning committee (DPC) meeting, the media persons pointed out that cable operators were charging Rs.250 per month flat from middle class consumers irrespective of number of channels they want to watch.
The MSOs were simply not providing consumers their choice of channels as given in the consumer application forms (CAFs) and instead forcing their own package on them for Rs250/ consumer are also confused how to give their choice as the CAFs are in English and not easily understood TRAI Tariff order requires MSOs to get choice from consumer and provide the same through their SMS system.
