According to our last news of June 28, 2013 we had reported that I&B ministry had issued show cause notices to 38 broadcasters for not intimating it of the changes in their shareholding pattern or on the board of directors as mandated.
This is being done to verify the ownership and directorship details of all the broadcasting companies that held licenses for running channels. 61 channels had lost their licenses in this exercise. Most of these channels had not started their transmissions or met the licensing conditions.
Out of the 38 broadcasters who did not reply to the ministry six were asked to suspend their transmission for one month from 08 July to 07 August 2013. A list of these broadcasters is given below. Since they have submitted the documents now ministry has withdrawn its suspension order giving them a warning to comply with the directions issued by the ministry from time to time and abstain from such omissions in future.
