ASCI’S CCC upholds complaint against Times Now, ET Now ads

The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) of ASCI (Advertising Standard Council of India) has upheld the complaint against the print ads by Times Now and ET Now that appeared in The Times of India and The Economic Times in December 2012. The complaint was considered by the CCC at their meeting held in January 2013.
As per their decision, the complaint has been upheld as the advertisement contravened Chapter I.4 of the ASCI Code. CCC concluded that the source of the data substantiating the claim was not mentioned in the ad and the manner in which the comparative data was presented was misleading as the base level was not mentioned. The advertisement was misleading.

In response to the CCC decision, the advertiser has assured compliance and confirmed that the ad has been withdrawn.
