TRAI pushes for FDD technology adoption

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended that the government must adopt FDD technology for 700 MHz band, considered a premium spectrum band, for 4G services.
Few Indian operators have introduced 4G services using the LTE-TDD, while in other parts of the world FDD-LTE is the most common technology for 4G services. As per the experts, both LTE-TDD and FDD are only variants. TRAI has maintained, "authority recommends that APT700 band plan should be adopted for the 700 MHz spectrum band (698-806 MHz) with FDD based 2x45 MHz frequency arrangement.''
