Delhi HC directs India News to run continue scroll on identical name with India TV

The Delhi High Court on 12th May has directed India News to run continues scroll on their channel saying that it was not associated with India  TV, the Rajat Sharma promoted channel, in any way.
India TV, which has been crusading against India News for using a ‘deceptively similar’ channel name, had first filed a case in the court in 2008, when its lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi had suggested seven different alternative names.

Later, the company had also filed a complaint with the then Information & Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, contending that by allowing ITV to run a news channel with similar name, the fair name and goodwill of India TV was being compromised.
Meanwhile, the court had last year directed India News to run a continuous scroll on the channel, clarifying its non-association with India TV. However, India TV said that after running the scroll for a short period, India News stopped following the court directive.
India TV had recently moved the High Court with a contempt petition. Taking cognizance of the same, the court has issued order to India News for immediate compliance. The HC has also ordered India News to submit their revenue accounts to the court.
