Due to increasing content costs, direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata sky on 15th May has increased the subscription rates of its select annual excluding the base pack.
Tata sky has increased its subscription rates by 8 per cent. However, the base pack, which is valued at Rs 220 per month, remain unchanged.
The DTH operator said that the hike is part of an annual exercise undertaken to offset inflation.
“It is our constant endeavour to add richer content through popular and regional channels. Despite new channels being added to our bouquet of services, we did not hike our rates. Hence, to sustain quality of service, there is a change in tariff in select premium packages,” a Tata Sky official told PTI.
The packages that have seen an increase in annual subscription fees include ‘Supreme Sports’ kids pack to Rs 3,520 (earlier Rs 3,150); ‘Metro’ pack to Rs 3,960 (Rs 3,740); ‘Dhamal Cricket Music’ pack to Rs 2,600 (Rs 2500); and ‘Grand Sports’ pack to Rs 4,950 fr0m Rs 4,730.
