The World Teleport Association has recognised Noida-based technology service provider Essel Shyam among the global top 20 independent teleport operators in its annual rankings for the Top Teleport Operators of 2013.
Essel Shyam, a joint venture between Essel Group and Shyam Telecom, has been ranked as the twelfth largest teleport operator globally just below Germany’s Signalhorn Trusted Networks and above Australia’s NewSat.
The annual rankings are compiled by taking into account the total revenue and the revenue growth of privately as well as publicly held teleport operators around the world.
WTA Executive Director Robert Bell comments, “The past year marked a notable improvement in the financial results of the Top Operators. Last year, 21 percent of our sample reported year-over-year revenue declines. That percentage fell to 12 percent for the most recent year, while 88 percent posted revenue gains.”
Rankings were reported in three categories: the Independent Top Twenty, the Global Top Twenty, and what the association calls the “Fast Twenty.”
Top Twenty ranks teleport operators based on revenue from all sources. The list focuses on the independent operators at the core of the business, excluding companies whose primary business is ownership and operation of a satellite fleet or terrestrial network.
