Delhi High Court on 13th March put off ad cap hearing till 6th May. The interim order of court prevents Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) from taking any coercive action against petitioners.
Filing its affidavit in the case on 10 March, TRAI sought early hearing in the case but the matter was deferred till 6 May.
The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) will have to file its rejoinder to TRAI’s affidavit within four weeks.
Despite being protected by the interim relief, the petitioners have to submit a weekly report on the consumption of commercial airtime in a clock hour.
The NBA had challenged the ad cap rule, contending that TRAI does not have jurisdiction to regulate commercial airtime on television channels.
