Republic Day parade telecast to have sign language interpreter

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has directed Prasar Bharati to have a sign language interpreter during the telecast of the Republic Day ceremony.
Prasar Bharati will have an inset box on TV screens for a sign language expert to give the hearing-impaired access to the parade proceedings. This will be available on three of its all-India channels as well as DD Urdu, DD Bharati and DD News.

The move comes after the I&B Minister Manish Tewari received a representation from the National Association of the Deaf.
