Media Broadcast has now started to integrate linear OTT channels in its Multithek HbbTV portal over DVB-T.
Bloomberg Television is the first channel that sits among the digital terrestrial channels in the platform’s EPG. When the hybrid DVB-T receiver is also connected to the internet, viewers can click on the channel and start watching it immediately.
By offering linear channels over the top, the number of channels available to connected DVB-T receivers can grow with more (niche) channels, that do not want to buy terrestrial distribution.
Using the HbbTV standard, all new TV sets will be able to receive the additional channels once the receiver is connected to the internet.
The HbbTV portal works on any compatible TV set with a DVB-T tuner and a broadband internet connection with at least 2Mbps access speed.
The Multitek offers an EPG as well as on-demand content from over 30 providers, including public broadcasters ARD and ZDF.
