Cord-cutting Game of Thrones fans, rejoice: Sling TV is adding HBO Now to its content bouquet as a premium add-on.
DISH's over-the-top (OTT) service will offer both live linear and VOD content from HBO—differentiating it from Apple TV, which has a deal in place to deliver HBO on-demand via iPads, iPhones and Apple TV.
The launch date is hasn't been announced but the operator was quick to note that HBO will be available in time for, yes, the Game of Thrones premiere (and that of Silicon Valley) on 12 April.
HBO will go for $15 per month when customers sign up for the Best of Live TV core package. The deal also extends the device support for HBO Now beyond Apple products, to include Roku, Xbox One, Android devices and Web access.
"Sling TV is bringing HBO to our customers on all of our supported devices in time for one of the most important TV moments of the year," said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. "HBO delivers hit shows and movies that TV viewers crave, and with this addition we're adding another heavy hitter to a line-up that includes ESPN, AMC, TNT and more."
