AIADMK parliamentary party leader M. Thambidurai on 18 December suspected whether the Central government had vested interests by delaying its nod for the Digital Addressable System (DAS) licence to the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited owned by the State government.
Raising the issue during the zero hour in the Lok Sabha, he said the Corporation had applied for DAS licence to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on July 5 this year. But the nod had not been given.
Arasu Cable TV Corporation was giving channels to customers at a cheaper rate of Rs.70 per month per subscriber. The private operators had been charging Rs. 250 per month, he said.
