9X Media is planning to launch its Bangla music channel this fiscal. It will have a pure-play format.
Pradeep Guha Managing Director of 9X Media said that Bangla music channel would be launched this fiscal. The name of the channel has not been finalised so far. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) recently permitted 9X Bangla to assume the name ‘9X Bannao’. The name of the channel could be changed prior to launch. But we have not taken a final call on this.”
Guha added, the company has proposed to launch ‘Oriya music channel’ whose licence is to granted by MIB. By adding these two channels, the company will have a basket of total seven music channels.
9X Media currently boasts a fleet of five channels including 9XM (Hindi), 9XO (English), 9X Jalwa (Classic), 9X Jhakaas (Marathi) and 9X Tashan (Punjabi).
