The government clears Da Vinci Media’s FDI proposal to launch edutainment channel.
Da-Vinci-MediaDa Vinci Media’s FDI proposal to launch Da Vinci Learning in India was first reported by TelevisionPost.
With the government approval in hand, the stage is set for Da Vinci Learning to launch in the already overcrowded kids genre. However, Da Vinci Learning will compete directly with Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd’s (ZEEL’s) edutainment channel ZeeQ.
Da Vinci Learning is an educational TV channel targeting 6-to-12-year-old children and their families, enabling all viewers to find answers to their questions through high-quality knowledge programming.
In India, the channel will be spearheaded by former Star India executive Mohit Anand as the country manager. Based in New Delhi, Anand will be leading Da Vinci Media’s strategy and business in the region.
Launched six years ago, Da Vinci Learning has a strong brand recognition in Eastern Europe and CIS countries. The channel currently reaches more than 13 million subscribers in 18 countries in Europe and Asia.
Da Vinci Media has been on expansion spree in Asia ever since it took space on Measat 3 satellite in February. In April, it stitched carriage deals in Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar to expand its reach across Asia. It is also available in Singapore through MediaCorp’s over the top (OTT) service Toggle.
