UP Government may slash entertainment tax

With the few days left for upcoming general election every politician and political party wants to present themselves or their party with a positive outfit and hence the media role is crucial for this. In such a scenario, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has come up with a mind game to hide the flaws of Samajwadi Party from innocent peoples.
Akhilesh Yadav comes up with an unusual love for cable TV operators in the state including Den, Digi, Citi, WILL and Hathway networks ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2014. Sources claim that UP government soon will slash the entertainment tax from Rs 37.50 to Rs 10 per connection.

Prime Focus Technologies bought US-based DAX

Prime Focus Technologies on 11th March announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire DAX, a leading provider of cloud-based production work flow and media asset management applications to the entertainment industry for a base consideration of $ 9.1 million in a uniquely structured performance linked transaction.
This acquisition gives PFT ownership of DAX’s patented technology and products including the Primetime Emmy award winning Digital Dailies solution which is the de-facto industry standard in television production. This acquisition also sets the course for PFT’s strategic expansion in North America.

MediaPro issues disconnection notice to DEN Network

MediaPro on 11th March had issued a disconnection notice to multi-system operator (MSOs) DEN Networks for non-payment of dues.
According to the notice if the DEN Network fails to clear its outstanding dues, the customer of the DEN Networks will stop receiving the 76 channels distributed by the MediaPro.   

ITV appoints Vikas Khanna as VP, Ad sales

ITV Network on 10th March has appointed Vikas Khanna as Vice President, Ad Sales. Prior to this, he was working with Network18, where he was responsible for advertising sales of IBN7 and Lokmat.   

ETV appoints Devendra Pathak as Head, Sales

ETV Broadcaster on 10th March has appointed Devendra Pathak as Head of Sales, Retail & Corporate for its Hindi news and Urdu channels.
With this new position, he has responsibility to supervise the revenue growth from corporate and retail for the channels.

Rajesh Kamat becomes COO of CA Media, Asia

CA Media on 8th March has promoted Rajesh Kamat as a chief operating officer for the Asian region.
With this new position, Kamat will live at Singapore from April and will continue to oversee CA Media operations in India. He will report to CA Media Group’s Hong Kong based CEO Paul Aiello. CA Media is the Asian investment arm of The Chernin Group (TCG).
