Kaizad Heerjee, the Aircel chief executive officer (CEO), has resigned from his post. He will continue to work with the insolvency resolution professional (IRP) to help the telco, which has filed for bankruptcy protection.
He is credited with turning around Aircel before it ran into financial stress as competition intensified with the entry of Reliance Jio.
He became CEO in 2013; earlier he was chief operating officer (COO) under Sandip Das, who left his position as Aircel CEO to join Mukesh Ambani’s Jio.
