Madras HC reserves its order on plea of Sun TV against ED attachment

On 3rd June, the Madras High Court reserved orders on petitions filed by Kalanidhi Maran-owned Sun TV and Kal Communications challenging the recent attachment of their properties by Enforcement Directorate in connection with its money laundering probe in the Aircel-Maxis deal.

Ineligible firms got spectrum licenses by A. Raja: Enforcement Directorate

On 1st June, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) admitted before a special court that the former Telecom Minister, A. Raja, had allocated 2G spectrum licenses to certain ineligible companies in lieu of which Rs 200 crore was supposedly transferred to Kalaignar TV, owned by DMK supremo M Karunanidhi’s family. 

Hathway Cable to spend Rs 700 crore as capital expenditure for FY16

Hathway Cable & Datacom, a largest Multi-System Operator (MSO) in India has allocated Rs 700 crore as capital expenditure for the Financial Year 2016.  The MSO will invest Rs 420 crore in cable TV and Rs 280 crore in broadband, said a senior executive.
