A massive gathering of Cable Operators in Mayur Vihar, Delhi proved that their movement against unfair DAS Regulations is continuing without losing steam. Operators from all over Delhi and from outside places gathered to discuss, the next action to be taken to safeguard their business which they have been running since 25 years.
The meeting was organized by Sai Cable Association on July 3 to educate and aware cable operators about their legal rights and necessity to join hands to build their own headend and run their business collectively.
While addressing the meeting Mrs. Roop Sharma president, Cable Operators Federation of India (COFI) urged cable operators to be proactive in running their business, keeping up-to date with technologies and providing good services to consumers.
She also asked them to collectively keep a legal advisor on retainership, who would answer notices from the MSOs, correspond with TRAI and other government agencies scrutinize their agreements and other documents and also file cases in TDSAT without losing time, whenever they are faced with, any exploitative act from the MSOs/Broadcasters.
She told operators that their biggest weak point was lack of education, inability to understand documents in English, and their dis-interest in updating themselves about TRAI regulations, available on various websites.
SPK Gogul Doss President and S K Bhaskar, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Cable Association, who were visiting Delhi to meet I & B Minister had also come to the meeting for a while.
Mr Gogul Dods also addressed the audience telling them how in Chennai, the association has built its own headend and made their own content deal with the broadcasters for DAS-implementation. This way they don’t have to share revenue with the large MSOs.
The meeting was well attended and included many lady operators.
