Shemaroo Entertainment inks pact with Viacom18 Motion Pictures

Shemaroo Entertainment said it has acquired video rights from Viacom18 Motion Pictures for a pipeline of blockbuster movies of the year to be released on home video for an undisclosed sum. 
"Shemaroo Entertainment has inked an acquisition deal with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. The company acquires exclusive video rights for a pipeline of blockbuster movies of the year, awaited to be released on home video. The deal also includes a large chunk of unreleased titles," a company statement said. The deal includes video rights for films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Bombay Talkies and Madras Café, along with unreleased titles like Gabbar featuring Akshay Kumar, besides Marathi and Bengali movies.

Hiren Gada, Director,Shemaroo Entertainment said, "We are glad to join hands with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. We firmly believe that content is king in our business and continuously work to expand our library which presently includes around 2,800 titles. The deal will also allow us to offer fresh and latest content to our partners and consumers.”
Ajit Andhare, Chief Operating Officer, Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, "We are constantly looking to monetise our content with transparent, professional partners who will place value on our work and maximise its potential in every channel. This deal with Shemaroo on home video is a step in that direction."
