Nat Geo gets exclusive access to make a special series on IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which owns IPL, has granted Nat Geo, TV channels exclusive access to players, cricket celebrities, spectators, coaching and support staff, infrastructure and grounds for its series titled 'Inside IPL'.
National Geographic Channel is making a special series on the Indian Premier League that will cover all aspects of the country's largest sporting event, from logistics to teams' hunt for talent to the festive mood in the stadiums.

"It is a win-win for both IPL and Nat Geo," Rajeev Shukla, IPL chairman and BCCI vice-president, said. "The idea is to take IPL to a different level and make people aware about throughout the world, particularly non-cricket playing nations," he said.
The documentary series, which is based on the current season of IPL, is expected to help Nat Geo ride on the popularity of the Twenty20 tournament to garner more eyeballs in the country. The series would be based on the current season of IPL.
The series will go on air later this year. Nat Geo plans to take it to several countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia and the UK.
