Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Jagmohan Dalmiya passed away in city's B M Birla Hospital, Kolkata following a heart attack on 20 September 2015. He was 75. Dalmiya is survived by a daughter and a son.
Dalmiya has not been keeping well for a while now and was not actively taking part in the day-to-day functioning of the BCCI.
Dalmiya, who changed the fortunes of the Indian cricket board, first served as president of the BCCI from 2001 to 2004. He took the charge on an interim basis in 2013 and returned full-time once again in March 2015. He was president of ICC from 1997 to 2000.
Dalmiya had joined the BCCI in 1979 and was one of the men credited with bringing the World Cup to the subcontinent for the first time in 1987.
