Eenadu launches ETV3 for Telangana region

Emergence of new state Telangana is having spillover effect on the media industry as well. Making the first move, Telugu media baron Ramoji Rao-owned Eenadu Television has launched ETV3, a news channel that will show news about newly created state of Telangana.
With the launch of ETV3, Eenadu Television’s other news channel ETV2 will become an Andhra Pradesh-focused channels.

The company is planning to rename the two channels and has got the necessary approvals for the same from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). The name change is expected to take place shortly.
While ETV2 will be renamed ETV Andhra Pradesh, ETV3 will become ETV Telangana. The move is in keeping with Ramoji Rao’s vision of having state-specific channels to cater to the news needs of that particular state.
Prior to ETV3 launch, the state of Telangana had only one dedicated channel in Telangana Broadcasting T News, which is owned by K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family.
It may be recalled that Rao had sold all his ETV news channels to Network18 Group except ETV Telugu News. Network18 is in the process of dropping the ETV name and branding the news channels it had acquired as News18.
